Here's my Gamma 4 entry called Laserback. I've been working on it some more and this is the current version.

Get it

Pretty fun there! Smiley Hand Thumbs Up Right  I like the design of the monster but Id love to seem more focus on the weighting of him scaling a building I think that could be really fun to animate.  The game play is fun but right now a bit slow as there are no real goals just an arbitrary score at the top.  Could turn into something really great if you keep working on it.

That's a good point about illustrating the hugeness of the monster.  He is just kind of casually walking up the building right now rather than straining to pull himself up.

Yeah I definitely agree about the lack of purpose.  I've been working on a storyline for a few weeks, and I've got it to a place I really like.  I'm going to be moving things in that direction next.

Thanks for the feedback Grin

I like it. It shares some things with my first idea for Gamma which was a shmup without axis movement. Nice visuals. It's just a tad to slow to use the shield. It feels like it doesn't protect you during the beginning of the animation so you have to press quite a while before you get hit?

Pretty fun, but at a certain point it seems impossible to block the onslaught of missiles even if you spam the shield button. Maybe I'm doing it wrong?

I've noticed that too, and don't know what's going on with it exactly.  Do you think it's framerate?  It seems that if the missile is inside the border of the shield when you turn the shield on then it doesn't block it.  I'm using Game Maker 7.

@nihilocrat
Yeah, it can get tough if you don't stay on top of blasting the helicopters with lasers.  Were you having trouble with the green choppers or the red ones?  The red ones shoot instant kill missiles (for now) so they are tough.

I'm getting ready for GDC and making some Laserbacks out of Sculpey to give to future friends I meet there.  I'm putting a nail slot on the bottom of them so they can either be climbing a wall or just standing on a table.  Smiley

I totally would have beaten everyone if I wasn't on the last game before the laptop was turned off!

Cool game though. Smiley
