AlexHW, that's sweet as hell.
I love the green shining through everywhere, like a primed canvas. Definitely something that makes for a super-recognizable style.

I've been playing with a new style and some extra Photoshop effects. Here is the result. Let me know what you think.

Tried to do two quick versions of the tree, shifted the hue a bit and added some brightness. Dunno if it works better.

I haven't been that satisfied with the tree either, I keep wanting to change it and I think part of the issue with it is the trunk pops out too much, which competes with the depth of the top portion.

I think the perspective of the tree can be fixed (If you want a straighter tree) by drawing a perspective box and making sure the center of the trunk is aligned and then you can decide how much you want the roots to go out.

Back to art

Those are Zerg? Looks great. I feel like the little one is hard to read. Its some critter with 2 arms but not sure what the details are.

I really like these, but I think the pure black shadow is a problem. Because the Zerg itself is so dark you lose the bottom edge in the shadow.  Also, a shadow that dark and crisp suggests a much stronger and more directional light than the highlights and shading would suggest.

This may all just be a function of it being against a much lighter background, however.

Yeah it was done on a reasonably dark grey background; I contemplated using a 50% alpha shadow or a lighter grey but it screwed with the silhouette and at that point I had actual work to do, so was looking to wrap it up. Thanks for the feedback, will keep it in mind next time when adding shadows to iso units like this.

Hero for pixel dailies - want to extend it to a triptych, this being the first of 3; don't have time for that tonight though.
