Thank you, but I don't think I move fast enough.
You've got to be kidding me, in terms of features per day you still look pretty damn impressive, all the while keeping the aesthetics up to shape. Thanks, It's just I know that I will have much less time to work on this once next semester starts so I might aswell move as fast as possible while I have the time So, what's next? Characters / vehicles?
Liosan
Well since my main computer is at the shop getting repaired I first need to get the project running on my old computer, after that I will most likely spend the rest of the day fixing the bugs introduced with the new features... Looking forward more than a day I would like to add a few more buildings and then add some dwarves soon

Update: I have added two new structures; Lumber mill and woodcutter. Woodcutter: The lumberjack hut/woodcutter will cut down trees and produce wooden logs. Lumber mill: The lumber mill will turn wooden logs into planks which will be used to build structures Lumber production: They don't actually work yet but you get the idea

First of all: Sorry it's been so long since last update, but life got in the way. I started on the new semester, got a new job, quit one of my old jobs and just generally been busy So whats new? In terms of features; not much I'm afraid. I've been changing from the XNA framework to the Unity engine.
This project started out just as a learning project for me to learn the basics of XNA and I feel that I have achieved that now. Since this has turned into a project I really want to finish I thought that I should switch to an environment I have more experience with Another bonus of using unity is built-in support for realtime shadows and reflective water (as you can see in the screenshot above). Also I must admit that the guys at unity are doing a better job at optimizing than I am. My FPS has increased with 50-100. At the moment I have about 90% of the code working unity. I'm also brainstorming some names for the game: - A tale of Dwarves
- Dwarves n' Trains
- Dwarves on trains
- Surface Dwarves
- (The) Outpost
- Settlements
- New Lands
I'm horrible at coming up with names so any ideas are welcome (please)

haha, some really creative suggestions guys, thanks @kamac - Impressive list! - I love you For some reason I really like the idea of calling the dwarves Humblets. Did you come up with that name? (I couldn't find anything when searching online) Mini update: 99% of the XNA code is now running on Unity, so I should be able to start implementing new stuff soon

I simply haven't had much time to work on this lately, with school and jobs and so on. Also when I do have a little spare time on my hands I'm working on finishing another project of mine ( ). Don't worry though, this is by far my favorite project and I'm not going to let it die

I finally had some time to work on this again, so I just went head on with one of the big things on my todo list; pathfinding. It's quite fast at the moment but it's running in the main thread which is just not going to be fast enough with many agents running around, so I need to make it multi threaded somehow. I've never worked with multi threading before so I will have to look into that It should be called Stovepipe Hat Adventure Land.
Since you keep insisting on those stovepipe hats I guess I have to include them in the game somehow

Hooray! Another victory for terrorism! I don't feel very terrorized I've been working on boring stuff that had to be done at some point, most if it is under the hood but also a few cosmetic things like fixing some UV coordinates that got messed up when going from XNA to Unity. I had a chance to talk to one of the developers of unity yesterday and asked him about multi threading and path finding in unity. Since Unity is not thread safe you can't call unity's API from other threads so he suggested to use coroutines for pathfinding. They are not as fast as multithreading since they still run in the main thread, but they will allow me to easily spread the calculations over multiple frames. I never thought about using coroutines like that so I will try this first and see if it's fast enough and if it isn't I can always "upgrade" to multithreading
