Hey Not new stuff but an old design for a movie character [img]
I imagine him being a very prominent warrior by day, and a lightweight smiley drunk womanizer by night.

Assuming you used photoshop, how'd you do the legs? Just make opaque, carefully-weighted lines, then turn on an opacity long and run over them with a gradient?

Ah, I used Sai so I couldn't use a tool to make a gradient so I really just made the feet in a solid light gray (using the same brush that I used for the rest of the bird), turned on preserve opacity for that layer, and then just went over it with a dark brown watercolor brush that has some heavy blending going on. Which worked out better than I initially expected. But your strategy is more reliable and cost-efficient so I would always recommend doing it that way. I just wanted to do this thing 100% in Sai so I went with a more l'artiste approach.

Thank you! Im going back to drawing after a period on only doing design work, so its surprising to hear theirs noticable progression. I probably learned a lot more than expected from the last project I did. Here are some more sketchy sketches I did while listening to some deathgrips. (that ugly yellow is probably getting old)
