To my colleagues in the ranks of the Mac and Linux tormented:

CrossOver Pro and CrossOver Games are both available, free of charge, for the remainder of this day, October 28th, 2008.
Get them here.

This isn't spam. I just thought it would be nice to let people know, as I've found CrossOver to be compatible with a number of indie games, which saves the headache of booting into Windows or waiting for VMWare to load up.

This thread will be deleted once the offer has expired, because it's not the sort of thing that needs to be cluttering up the forums.

EDIT: I just remember that it may not be possible to delete threads. Okay, Martha, would you be a dear and delete this tomorrow?

What is this 'CrossOver' you speak of? The main site is pretty much castrated so I can't find any screenshots anywhere.

EDIT: Oh hey! It can run TF2! Sweet, thanks for showing us this.

From what my brother told me you don't even need a serial number at the moment. Like it says on the page the downloadable files are "fully unlocked builds", so I guess that also includes not needing a serial number Smiley

Blah, disappointing. It doesn't run games better than Wine.

Thanks for the heads-up. I'm currently stuck in Linux-land because my XP install is corrupted, hopefully this will work better than Wine for some games...

The World of Goo Mac beta runs nicer though. Smiley

I'm only on the beta announce list until I get my precious profanity pack.

Oh, and the Linux version.

It seems to run Game Maker semi-decently.  You have to run it in full screen and even then it only displays in the top left corner (no stretching), also there doesn't appear to be any sound.  I haven't tested any Game Maker exes yet, this is just the editor.  It is usable though, at least now I don't have to drag out my old crappy laptop to make a Game Maker game.
