I could explain, or I could just give examples:

PRESIDENT DUDES
"Ninjas have kidnapped Former President Klintone. Are you a Baroque enough McClain to rescue him?"

-Punch ninjas!
-Punch soldiers!
-Kick zombies!
-Punch mailboxes!
-Score huge points in awesome minigame extravaganzas and regular vaganzas as well!
-Play as heroes Baroque Bomber or Gun McClain for INSTANT VALUE!
-WINNING! YES!

The Darkest Night: Deadly Cops Chronicles

"NWOGBBV's landmark LCD title Deadly Cops really caught our eye. All at once, the deep backstory struck me- agents are trying to escape the clutches of a secret shadowy government special force. They attempt to steal files from a bank which we all know is actually a data bank where this force's top secret files are hidden. They just make it look like a bank robbery (ha ha!). However, these agents underestimated the skill of ace cop duo Nick McDeadly and John 'Cops' Andersteel. However, Nick finds one of the secret files hidden on a dead agent and realizes that only he and John can stop the evil plot of this secret government agency that has grown corrupt with power."

"Our game is full of deep commentary on games and America. For example, Nick McDeadly was a hero in the 80s but struggles to be taken seriously in a country that thinks his methods are 'outdated' and 'too extreme'. He has to prove to the world that getting the job done makes you a hero, even in corrupt America where the government hates you. On one mission, John must beat up children because they are involved in crime which shows the degradation of our youth. One of our playtesters got a 50 Hit Combo Chain (rating: DEADLY) on that mission so we had him sent to jail because he probably beats up kids in his spare time."

"All the guns you find in the game are 100% random, even more random than Borderlands. We don't restrict our guns to things like 'manufacturer style' or 'logic' in our game. Also, all the guns are randomly given names of toys and toy makers because that's somehow deep, however we haven't fully fleshed that aspect out yet."

"Some people ask us why we only credit the art department in our games. The fact is, our entire company is the art department."

I don't see how that second one is artsy at all, truly. Pretentious 'mature', probably?

That second game sounds like a buddy cop movie from the 80s.

My stream of consciousness created this title:

The Eternal Flight of the Mystical Swan in Moonshine

Join the medieval hero Conway as he wanders through the grand plains of the mythical world Yr'Kuan, in an epic quest to regain his dreams and memories. In this great adventure, Conway will discover his past, meet new allies, and find the source of his despair.

Note: IMO, this might be more cliche than artsy; the title still makes me go WTF, though.

Will it involve Conway's game of life at all? Because, you know, that'd be pretty sweet.

I actually originally meant pretentious but my brain was running on "bomb diggety" as opposed to "bomb diggety dawg" mode. Artsy would be just fine, too.

Don't worry: it seems that no one was a bad enough dude to rescue the 80s.

"The 80s have been kidnapped by bad taste. Are you bad enough dude to rescue it?"

Calvin wasn't.
The guys in white robes wasn't.
The girl wasn't even a dude.
The ferrot wasn't.

The 80s are beyond help. Also it's way to late to do anything about it.

Take the developers for Deus Ex, then give them a pizza with pepperoni and "those" mushrooms on it. You will get "The Darkest Night".

i thought the 80s were pretty rad, at least they had awesome synths, which the 90s exchanged for nauseating nu-rock

Gnu-rock killed Glam-rock, which I am ok with, Dancepop killed 80s synth.

I'm going to have to side with toastie on this one. I'd go with Ziggy Stardust era Bowie or T Rex over angsty mid 90s rockers any day.

Also, yeah, I think nu-rock missed glam by more than ten years.

Unless you're talking about hair rock, which I don't really think counts as glam.

In which case, tough call, but I still think hair rock wins out. I'd still rather listen to (old) GnR than Creed, I think.

Edit: and in a toss-up between Creed and Chinese Democracy, I'd really have to choose suicide.

All I can say to this music discussion is that I like ABC and Power Station, so you should know where I stand. Needless to say, I'm hardly judgmental of other people's taste in music.

Back on topic, ladies & gentlemen?

Whoops, Sorry I meant Glam Metal. I would much rather listen to mid nineties grunge then that stuff. You know, before grunge evolved into nu metal and 'new alternative'
I'd much rather listen to Alice in Chains then Ratt or Twisted Sister.

Man, I've got to get my terms right.

Honestly, BeamSplash, we would be able to stay on topic better if you explained exactly what the dickens you're talking about.

Born 1986...meaning the closest I really get to the 80's are my vague memories of 80's themed college parties with girls making out with each other and that one guy who, inevitably, throws up on his pants while they're around his ankles...

so basically, I think the 80s are great!

Except Chernobyl. And the Challenger.

not cool.
