here's a character that I am planning on using:

Oooh!  This is looking really nice.
I like his tiny legs, I can instantly kind of see how this person could look if they were a sprite... and watching them do a run animation on their legs hehe. (trust me. in my head it is really enjoyable to watch him run.)

Concept of game character. 100% vector work (if you don't believe me check this). I wanted to make effect of paintbrush drawn work. I used Corel Draw X5, gradient and transparency tools.

@WingedDoom: More to come? The colours (save for the green on the eyes, which I'm personally not too fond of), are gorgeous. Hoping to see more in the near future! Kiss

@Elk: I really like that, would like to see some greens dropped into the leaves in the psychedelic watercolour one.

This is excellent! However, can I suggest adding a single frame before the big swoosh? At the moment, there's just a hint of entry into the motion missing. It's like he winds up, then magic-flash-and-boom-done.

I realize that a single big swoosh frame can make for a nice effect, but when working on such a level of detail like you are, it pays off to at least hint at the full motion, like you're already doing with plentiful follow-through.

EDIT, to continue being an asshole: I hope the way the flash arc disappears is just WIP. This sort of lateral fade-out works great for tiny SNES sprites, but on your scale this cries for a great fire/steam/ripple/sparkle/confetti effect.

And this is nothing comparable, but I wanted to throw it out there anyway...

My wife Jenny just launched a series of gaming/ancient civilisation-inspired pieces with this Duck Hunt/Middle Kingdom crossover:

I agree on all points, Sir Miguelito. I had actually started doing a fancy dissipation effect on the sword slash, and then I realized it was terrible so I stopped. I'll give it another go.

Was thinking for my next game I might try doing the graphics like my old ink and pen drawings, with splashes of colour...
