i totally agree with Anthony Flack, saying that pixel art is playing with the higher level of detail is bullshit, only because you do it using the pixel doesn't mean that you're actually capable of using the pixel do to a level of detail even similar to a good painting if you're not a machine.

you have to consider exactly what 'detail' means. i think people are using different senses of the word. pixel art allows greater *human* control over a *computer monitor* than other forms of computer art do. that can be thought of as greater detail. whether that extra control means anything or not is up to the viewer, but it does provide that particular form of greater control.

vector art is the most detailed because it has infinite resolution

No it actually doesn't, mixing colors is much more useful in art that having control over the smallest picture element, an human can't use efficiently the control that pixel art gives to him, and he can actually make much more realistic stuff using a digital brush.

So yes, you have more control over the single pixels but so what? you have also so many and more important limitations Shrug

it's not that having more control over individual pixel is better, it's just that you have more control over individual pixels

lol, this one uses sprites ripped from a lot of different games, nothing original really, he just ripped off sprites from a shitload of snes games

Get it right, I ripped them from a lot of 32 bit games, not SNES, and I spent 2 years coding it so I didn't have time to create original graphics while coding. I have a life Smiley

Don't worry, I value your game, having played the demo. It's good! Very promising work. Though, I do wish you hadn't bumped this thread as it tends to enrage me...

"i have a life", that's the dumbest thing someone can say on a forum, everyone has a life you know?
It's just that someone prefer to do original things someone doesn't. I wasn't criticizing your work in any way.
I wasn't even saying "OMG this dude is such an asshole doing so", because it's a fan game project so i'm ok with it.
But it was posted as proof that indie developers can craft good looking pixel art at the levels of snes\ '90s arcade games, so it made me laugh Smiley

good luck with the game, it looks very good even if your efforts on that side are minimum, but it's still very very promising.
