Rules of the GameThe idea for this thread is to have a game-design-based word-association-like game. Each post should briefly summarize a game concept that combines two mechanics in an interesting way. Each post should combine the new mechanic from the previous post with an additional mechanic of the poster's choosing. To ease browsing through the flow of ideas, please start each new game concept post with the previous post's new mechanic, and your additional mechanic in bold. This will make it easier for people to skip over or dive into commentary on specific game concepts, links to existing implementations of them, or discourse on the rules of how this forum game is played. Oh, and be nice... of course . Being the first post, this one has to break the rules a bit. The next post should combine the Maze mechanic with something else. Match3 + MazeThis concept is to limit the player's movement around a grid (as in a maze) by requiring them to pass through cells marked with matching colors or shapes (as in a match3). Each cell that the player passes through is added to their history. When that history includes consecutive matching colors or shapes, they are cleared. If their history grows too long (due to a lack of matches), the player loses the round and has to try again.

Maze + Free Running Played in competitive multiplayer, the game consists of mazes made of different blocks, bridges and walls of different heights that the player can Mirror Edge their way through. Players can get to the goal by any way they want, some paths being harder to navigate than others, some leading to non-climbable walls or endless pits (like dead-ends in a maze). Players could also lay traps around for other players to activate.
So the next entry should be Free Running + something else.
(Am I doing this right?)

Free Running and Hentai Your goal is to run jump and slide through complicated urban environments, and all the while the camera is pointing directly up at your panties.

Free Running + Cool RunningsYou some guy in some city doing some crazy parkour with a bobsled. The plot would be that you have to save your kidnapped sister and win a ton of gold medals for your hybrid sport while you're at it. Also the fate of the free world depends on it. EDIT: awww, ninja'd. I think I'll post this anyway, but the next person should probably respond to Hentai. EDITx2: or maybe Cool Runnings + Hentai + ????

Metroid + Castlevania =... no wait, I'm doing this wrong.
Metroidvania + Text Adventure = Because I just want to see how this would work. The items you get are permanent and work against the same type of obstacles? Hmm....
