Today's "Oh I've got a break lets make something" thing. Some dude with a cup of coffee. Trying less square limbs/body etc while keeping it boxy. Need to tweak the rigging on these kinds of humans a little to make the elbows/knees deform more nicely (can probably be done by offsetting the joint a little)

1hr in blender and photoshop. Hair looks a bit shocking from some angles, haha.

Might do a properly connected mesh next time to see if I'm better at those yet.

your color schemes are downright gorgeous!

spent most of the afternoon on this with a few breaks to play Magic Carpet, which would infuse me with enough weirdo manic fire to keep working on it. could use a different color scheme but w/e it's done now. Wizard

Fifth rate frigate.





No guns yet and the shrouds could maybe do with more detail. It's untextured, and I will probably leave it that way except for trying some painterly effects and for some decorative parts.

I made an extremely low-poly pickup truck.

196 quads. I had a vague idea of an Android racing game. There are no textures, it's all vertex colours. I might add a texture for dirt and windscreen reflection, and add something in the back (not that's it'd be smart to race with that extra weight, but it seems strange to have a pickup with nothing in it).

@SolarLune Yeah it transformers with a lot of flipping of parts and some minor clipping here and there. I'd make an animation of it but I haven't exactly learned all of MAX's animation tools.

Dataflashsabot, you've got a lot of unnecessary verts going on there. You could probably halve the tri-count if you get ride of all those extra loops, and even have enough room to add some to the wheels to get them rounder.

created with 3dsmax and photoshop.
model is about 480 poly's and the texture is 256x256

I was trying to keep the topology clean, but I think I went overboard.
I did this:

100 triangles, but no wheels included.

While I like the character aside from a few discrepancies between outlining styles and lighting (dont put outlines on the baubles if you aren't going to toon shade the model in general), I think the environment... Kinda sucks. The Grey swirls don't even vaguely look like the base of a waterfall to me, nor does the hundreds of sparkle billboards do much other than look spammy. Could be time to do some environment studies, mcmutton. If the environment wasn't an intended part of the piece, I think she would have been better presented on a neutral background. Would be interested in seeing wires for the character.
