the next gamma event will be held at the Game Developer Conference in San Francisco in march 2010. the gamma party will be held on the last day of the IGS instead of what would have been the 12-bit party. then there will also be a booth on the GDC showfloor for the rest of the show where all selected games will be playable. we will announce the theme and details in november. http://www.gamesetwatch.com/2009/09/kokoromi_bringing_gamma_showca.php

This is awesome - just when you think both Gamma and the X-Bit parties couldn't possibly get any better independently, they merge into a formidable SUPERPARTY of epic proportions

Actually Ivan's comment reminds me, is there a good reason to go to MIGS now?

I enjoy the talks? Wowzers, the price difference for MIGS between Student and regular dude is $390 early bird and $540 regular. I don't know if I can afford that.

We were lucky to have this event in Montréal.
Hopefully a new indie event will replace it.

Haha, that's funny. I've been too lazy to make my way up to Toronto or Montreal, and Gamma ends up moving to GDC, the one event I go extra out-of-the-way for now. Hehe.
Congratz on the GDC floorspace. I wonder how close it'll be to the IGF/IGF Mobile booths.

At first I am happy to know Gamma is moving up the ladder and is now a big boy at the GDC. Then, I am sad as it is no longer in Montreal. Finaly, I'm intrigued about how a new indie game thing in Montreal would work out. Very intrigued. I need to think about this.

I'm moving up to Montreal by the end of the year so I would greatly appreciate an indie event at an... ahem... "indie budget".

I'm pretty sure you could make the game use keyboard input and run Joy2Key to map it to the Xbox gamepad. If you can't find a way to use the gamepad directly. But don't learn a new language and toolset just to make the gamepad work...

xbox controllers can be used as a standard joystick, so just use joystick input
