I want to do some vocal stuff, as I'll get a proper mic soon.

Any ideas for basic stuff I should record?

Fighting game announcer voices!

[Mix-n-match adjective] "COMBO!"    ("HIGHLY", "EXTREMELY", "EPICALLY", "MASTERFULLY", "LUDICROUSLY", "RIDICULOUSLY", "NEFARIOUSLY", "UNREASONABLY", "INSANELY", "IMPROBABLY", "SLIGHTLY") ("LUDICROUS", "RIDICULOUS", "ADEQUATE", "NEFARIOUS", "PAINFUL", "AWESOME", "DASTARDLY", "UGLY", "CHEAP", "EPIC", "MASTERFUL", "SUPERLATIVE", "UNREASONABLE", "INSANE", etc.) .

Then you can mix and match them to make:

"UNREASONABLY UNREASONABLE COMBO!"
"MASTERFULLY CHEAP COMBO!"
"EXTREMELY PAINFUL COMBO!"
"LUDICROUSLY SUPERLATIVE COMBO!"

Maybe also an "LY" suffix to make some of these also into adverbs "AWESOME" "LY" "EPIC" "COMBO!"

"FINISH HIM OR HER!"

"OUCH!  THAT'S GOTTA HURT!"

"AWWWKWARD!"  (a la "TOASTIEEEE" from Mortal Kombat)

"FLAWLESS FAIL!"

"PYRRHIC VICTORY!"    (pronounced "PEER-ick", meaning a victory that has been achieved at a cost so great that you've effectively lost)
Actually, maybe a mix-n-match is in order for [__adjective___] VICTORY as well...

"ROUND" [number]  "FIGHT!"

("ONE", "TWO", "THREE", "FOUR", "FIVE", "SIX", "SEVEN", "EIGHT", "NINE", "TEN", "ELEVEN", ... "NINETEEN", "TWENTY", "THIRTY", "FOURTY", "FIFTY", ...., "NINETY", "HUNDRED", "THOUSAND", "MILLION", "BILLION", "AND", "A HALF", "QUARTERS", "EIGHTHS")

With those, you can mix them to say "ROUND ELEVEN HUNDRED BILLION FIVE HUNDRED TWENTY THREE MILLION THREE HUNDRED FIFTY TWO THOUSAND AND SEVEN EIGHTHS .... FIGHT!"

"KILLTALITY!"

"PLEASED TO MAKE YOUR ACQUAINTANCE!"

"I DON'T BELIEVE IT!"

"A NEW CHALLENGER APPEARS!"

"HEY, GET BACK HERE!"

"I'D BUY THAT FOR A SHEKEL!"

"CONTINUE? ..."

also mix and match special move announcements:

"SPINNING" "DEATH" "PANTS!"

"FLAMING" "GROIN" "CHOMP!"

"TWIRLING" "ASS" "STOMP!"

"RAPID" "FACE" "KICK!"

("FIRE" "WIND" "STORM" "DEATH") "OF" "THE" "ELEMENTS!"  ("DRAGON!")  "FROM"   "BEYOND"  "THE" ("GRAVE", "STARS", "DETROIT")

"THOUSAND" "NEEDLES" "OF" "INTENSE" "AGONY!"

etc.

and mix and match Chinese name particles for randomized character names:

("KUNG", "LIU", "SHANG", "WANG", "LI", "HUNG", "PAO",  "LO", "PAN", "MING", "GAI", "CHUN", "GAO", "MOO", "GOO", "STEVE" ...)

"VERSUS!"

("KUNG" "PAO" "VERSUS!" "MOO" "GOO" "GAI" "PAN")

Ooh.. and if anyone wants to fontify these as well...

Hello this is Pencerkoff

Don't know whether I'll use them, but I'd love to see some overhead landscape tiles a la civilization.

I think I know of two threads you'd want to see for stuff like that.

Could we have some more fonts? ... especially small sprite fonts, but also bigger fonts. I'm thinking of title screens and similar stuff. It might be nice to have some fonts with just letters but of a "title"-ish size.

Maybe also some big "picture collage" elements to cobble together some title screens or other static screens... like some silhouttes of a variety of stuff like guns, animals, figures, scenery, etc, that could be built into some silly pictures.

Actually, maybe I'll just make something like this... it would be quite wonky though!

A few requests, mostly side-view world type stuff. More of any/all of these would be good:

- Tilesets for a 2D platformer. If it's possible to add stuff that would work as parallax scrolling backgrounds as well as platformy foregrounds, even better.

- Textures which might be suitable for a Worms/Lemmings type setup (big tiled areas, grass etc for the tops of platforms, assorted interesting items to scatter about).

- Spritesheets for as many mundane objects as you can think of (teapots, telephones, fire hydrants, furniture, vehicles, household pets, whatever you fancy)

Fighting game announcer voices!

I got some here.  But your list is far more comprehensive  Shocked.  I've definitely got the basics.  Like the numbers and some adjectives, for example.  I also made them sound like they are coming from an old-school console.

Just to keep things on this thread going, i'm going to suggest someone make a pixel rock band.  Or jug band.  Or any kind of band really.

@jjs: I can do all of the voice acting you suggested except for the Toasty-style "AWKWARD". No way I can copy the TOASTYYYY vocal.  :D

Do you mean filetype or music editing software?

I like pxtone (free), Audacity (free) and FL personally.  Heard good things about Adobe Audition but never used it outside of just recording stuff (i.e. no composing; minimal editing) for my church.

Oh, I got one! Dinosaur sprites. Preferably with walking/jumping animation.

Even if it's just a 2D silhouette. You can do some pretty sweet runtime processing on that stuff. Plus, y'know. Dinosaurs!

Shame the art side seems to have become a 'who can make the best super-lo-fi art' competition...

I like good pixel art as much as the next gamer, but don't see the attraction of the 'ultra lo-fi' style, outside of the occasional 'art game' that uses it effectively

Hmmm, I think a lot of people have chosen lo-fi because it means people are more likely to FINISH a game this time around. And hopefully big, deep games.

So I'm most excited about the lo-fi tilesets.

More background tiles would probably be helpful.  Like... buildings, cars, trees, etc.

It'd be nice if there were more comments in the low-reply threads. Some of them are placeholders, but there's quite a few threads out there that got lost in the initial shuffle and I think it'd be good to show some enthusiasm for those creators, get some more material. =D

Also then it's not just a giant list of 'last reply by nunix' out there since I've been doing that a little this evening. ;p

Maybe a high res tile set since there are a few high res characters out there.

Anybody thinking about making sprites specifically for a visual novel type game? That could be pretty interesting, I think.
