I did (try to) enter after all, I should say for completeness' sake. Still can't understand why so many people voted for that crappy theme, but eh, let's make the best of it.
By the way, can anyone elucidate that strange 5-stage voting process they use on their themes? I don't get it.
Gotta get some sleep now, probably will run out of time tomorrow anyway.

I was trying to come up with some concept on the topic the entire day and hoping to do some last-minute grinding, but the concept "Advancing Wall of Doom" leaves me completely uninspired, so I'm just not going to make anything for this.

All of us Daring TIGers are hanging out in #walls on irc.esper.net, if anyone missed the memos! A lot of us are willing to help come up with ideas (I think most of us had trouble with that). Click! irc://irc.esper.net/Walls

I'm kind of at a loss for motivation for this. My idea was crappy because I couldn't think of anything cool for the theme, so.

Once again I aimed for something way too ambitious! Haha. No problem though, I'm still in the running!

It's not such a crappy theme... I was pulling for Rain, but I thought of a good idea for AWoD at the last minute, and I think it'll be fun. I'll need make less grid-like tiles eventually, but I want to spend the 48 hours focusing on code and gameplay, not art.

It's the least inspiring theme I have ever heard of, but fortunately I came up with some should-be-interesting idea. Hopefully, I'll make it.

I think I'm giving up - my idea isn't coming together as well as I'd like. Maybe I'll take some time later on to come up with some silly three hour thing, though?

@Stephen: Heh, you'll have to be quick about making your game then. But don't worry, two hours is enough to make Towlr! ...also, I'm done! The game is available as Java Webstart and as a ZIP file (containing a windows executable and a shell script for linux/osx). A final screenshot:

i like the game, morre(though of course it could use some more variation...); main problem i had with it was accidentally clicking outside the window

Thanks Stephen! And yes, you're right, it could definitely use some more work (especially in terms of variation and controls). Oh well, no time for that now (I've got an exam tomorrow!).

My entry is the most terrible thing anyone has ever made.
But that's what you get from working in PowerPoint.

Make sure you package it into an exe. ( this helps) :D

ITT: people whine about the theme. It's a perfectly decent theme guys, though I might agree that some of the others were better. I came up with several usable ideas for it though, and I think there's a lot of potential if you're willing to just think outside the box a little. That said, here's my shitty entry :D http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/2009/04/19/manually-operated/

Man I really wish life hadn't gone all "meta" on me with this compo this weekend.
See, I had thought about making an art game about Deadlines (they seem like advancing walls of doom to me) except that I had an actual deadline on Monday, so I'd be laughing in the face of it by trying to enter...ah well, maybe next time.

About the theme, the first thing that came to mind was the boss in shinobi.
