Looks neat. Nice and clean. I would suggest, if it fits this character's description, more wear-and-tear on the rim of the helmet. I'd say many vikings would attack for the head, and what better way than a downward slash to the face? He looks like a sesame street character. I like it.

Agreed, looking really good, except for the rim of the helmet which is just a gradient yeah? Put some cuts and chips in there mate! Also what about some more shadow around the mouth?

well, yeah, it's a wip. i haven't even touched the rim textures after the first pass, HEH. that mouth is a block of solid color. those eyebags need work, too. the underside of the beard, erm. etc. i'm on vacation/sedentary mode for a week, though, so. i'll put a hold on it for a while. thanks, guys :D

I love that low-poly chunky look. I know it's a rough draft, but I still just wanted to say I love it. I remember seeing the concept design for that guy, too. I'm glad to see you're making a model of it!

Looks damn good, Wilson. Working on this guy: Lots of personality here! But I guess the straight-shaped sword doesn't match the rest of the curvy design very well... could I suggest a scimitar?

woa nice stuff! I agree i like the chunky look, some reason i see that guy holding a big mallet/hammer too I've been getting more into 3d coat, i love how you can just slam shapes together, this started from a basic curved shape in Sketchup, then i put a bunch of voxel cube primitives onto it to make stairs and smudged them around for a while, WIP bake at about 1650 triangles

Heh. I feel humbled by all the great models in this thread. As for my dabblings in 3D, well, here's what's most likely my most successful piece: Done a long time ago, fixed the stock later on but didn't render it.

I found some free 3D software that doesn't make me want to punch someone - Wings 3D. I think it suits my more methodical programmer-background workflow. Not really optimised or anything, gonna see how it works loaded in-engine first.

Sunday modelling and shaders, it's like the good old uni days! The sphere map's a bit rough and whatnot, but I'm mainly happy that it's all working.

Just tinkering around at the moment Even if it does make it into a game, it'll probably still be 2D gameplay. Not really got the time for full 3D environments and whatnot. While I'm here, may as well post an update:

I really like your staircase, XRA. The progress you had on Polycount looks awesome! More on this guy: And I gave the sword a bit more curve:

Is that a bear scratching his back? Because if it is, I like it!
Also, cast aluminum?

Yep, it's scratching it's back on a tree while looking over at something off in the distance. It's my first ever carving so it's been interesting, soapstone is neat to work with. cast aluminum looks pretty crazy to work with I remember owning a metal casting toy when I was a kid - I think that it was actually lead-based.
