I'm figuring out the editor (and unlocking stuff) slowly. Biggest problem I'm having is working within the constraints and being satisfied with what's available rather than getting frustrated by its limitations. The first level I made was total garbage, and the second one was kinda meh, but I decided the third one might be worth uploading: F31A-0000-007E-498E
It's pretty short and moderately challenging. Contains lots of fire.

nx compatibility or short term, tough, tough I'm having playlist play in the background though, people reaction is priceless I also lean how theming twist is actually much more important than I thought, almost at storylike level of progression.

i wanna play this Same here. Saw it in a store two days ago. Grabbed it and held it in my hands. Really wanted to buy it, but I've no Wii U. Had to put it back to the shelf. Almost broke my heart. Right now I want to own a Wii U more than a PS4 because of Super Mario Maker. Good news: in the very near future I'll start working at an awesome company and they'll pay me real money. Fuck yes! Wii U, I'm coming. Super Mario Maker, I'm coming. I'm happy.

Fuck yes! cool, congrats! welp, i'm contemplating buying a wii u (as i said in the other thread). backwards compat means i could use it as a replacement wii too. i also personally like the idea of using the gamepad as an oversized handheld to play certain wii games on (not a fan of stationary screens anymore). but if the NX ends up being backwards compatible with the both the wii and wii u, i'll regret it. but otoh mario maker is one hype train i really want to get on. it's the first nintendo game in years that im actually stoked about and seeing what people are doing with it and how fun the editor apparently is makes me super jealous of wii u owners. The Wii-U pad doesn't work as a controller for Wii games, FYI. You have to use old Wii controllers (the remote or "classic" pad) for those.
The Wii-U pad can be used as a screen when playing Wii games, but you will still need to use one of the old remotes to actually play it.

That's what I'm feeling, too. I wasn't that excited about Mario Maker at first, but now I'm seeing what ppl doing with this neat kind of software I really wanna join the ride. I don't wanna wait until the NX is released before I can start creating stuff in Mario Maker (assuming it'll have backwards compat...).

Considering Nintendo released some info a while back that one of their upcoming products won't be using a Disk Drive (and it seems to be the NX, but I don't think it was 100% clarified), I'd assume that the NX will most likely NOT be backward compatible. I've also heard that it might come out earlier, but I have no idea what Nintendo's strategy is behind it. Some say it's going to be like another option to the Wii U, not so much the next generation of Nintendo consoles. Who knows?

It was speculation based on patent, not based on official statement, also the patent mention the possibility of using external drive.

yeah but buying an external drive in addition to the console might end up being very expensive. like i said i would use it as a wii replacement because i need one anyway and if it doesnt play my wii library im not interested. and with the wii u's frankly meh library except for a handful of titles, who knows if the nx will be any better.

comparing this vs warioware diy is a good lesson on how to handle restrictions in a level editor (and how NOT to do it)

Except Warioware was not a level editor, it was a mini game making software. But sure, if you think the lessons from comparing the two are valuable, go ahead.
