Considering the "what are you listening to" thread seems to never quite die, I suppose people might want to discuss what they're reading, an entirely different kettle of... books. Anyway, I'm reading Titus Groan at the moment, it's pretty odd. Haven't gotten too far yet, though. What about you other people?

Currently half way through "Count Zero", on a Gibson kick at the moment.
Next is "Masters of Doom", then "Mona Lisa Overdrive". After that I'm not sure what I'm going to read next. I love Cyberpunk, and Snowcrash is my favorite book ever.

I'm currently reading David Weber's Honor Harrington series. I'm on book three right now.
And I keep picking up Orson Scott Card's Xenocide. Then I put it down a minute later. I'm trying to decide whether or not to commit myself or just give up.

"If this is a man", by Primo Levi. It's about his holocaust experience in late-war Auschwitz: he was a deported Italian Jew. I had to read it back in school, but my moral sense wasn't as developed as it is now, and I'm going for it again, with deeper understanding.
I just finished World Without End (the sequel to Pillars of the Earth) by Ken Follet. He is a best-seller maker, hence a bit mainstream, but this seems to have some good history stuff. I found it to be pretty good, with a nice cast of characters. The end was slightly crap though.
How come I've never heard of any of those books you're talking about?

Reading Invisible Monsters at the moment I read Invisible Monsters after Fight Club, then I read Choke. Of three I thought that Fight Club was the best, I really didn't like either Invisible Monsters or Choke. Next is "Masters of Doom", I loved this book it humanized the Johns and American for me, it showed me that I am able to do what they did. I just finished 'Outliers', which was really cool, but my favourite parts of the book, the parts about herder culture and Asian cultures, aren't really on message compared to the rest of the book. Now I'm reading 'A theory of Fun', it's pretty interesting, there is one line in it that suggests time based puzzles, and Jonathan Blow has mentioned it as a book he likes in his talks...

Please tell me you're joking. House of Leaves is so much more than "k"....!!!!!!! It was an interesting book, but it had none of the promised effects on my life. I guess I just didn't want it badly enough? I read Count Zero -> Mona Lisa Overdrive -> Pattern Recognition (what was that?) -> VALIS recently. Now I'm reading "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Enhancing Your Social IQ" to see if I can't get a little social ability on my bones. Then I'll probably continue with whatever comes after VALIS.

Well, you're a book ahead of me then! :D I'm currently half way through Neuromancer and I'm really enjoying it (first time reading any Gibson; Case's hacking totally reminds me of Rez!!! ).

Just finished Watchmen, and now for school I'm reading The Ear, the Eye, and the Arm.
Watchmen was fucking amazing. If you haven't read it, yet go read it now.

Watchmen is truly amazing. But they're going to ruin it and the book'll be overshadowed by the movie, which makes me sad. Like how some people think I Robot is about robots trying to take over the world. By the way, if you think it is about that...

i liked "the road" enough to read it in a day i cried Watchmen is truly amazing. But they're going to ruin it and the book'll be overshadowed by the movie, which makes me sad. Like how some people think I Robot is about robots trying to take over the world. By the way, if you think it is about that... actually the movie looks great from what i can tell (way to many slowdowns). the book was, of course, genious and cold beans but i doubt the book would ever be overshadowed. not having the "alien" at the end may ruin it, but who knows, i haven't seen it even though that still pisses me off just hearing that.

Started reading Catch 22 last week. Mostly, though, I read Terry Pratchett. I have a huge pile of Terry Pratchett books in my to-read pile.
