Detail From a level for a game I'm developing. I went overboard with the details because there are few environments.

Wasn't gonna post this because it's so simple (and it's my profile pic), but an idling hero guy, 24x24 with NES color restrictions. :S @_arnulfo - Cool railway. Nicely detailed, though it could use some more contrast on the lighting, I think. @PypeBros - Hah, it looks like an older SNES / GBA game. Nice cartoony art.

Depends on where you want to take it. Is this a background or a piece of a cut-scene or what? I think it looks pretty good as it is, I'd love to see the lava lamp in motion. Some feedback: The sky could use a different color (+ some more details) and the lines on the small chest look a bit weird. Also you can see more of the side of the chest than the bookshelf. I guess the chest is not straight on the drawer-top. The bottle and the lamp are pretty flat for round objects. I know, it's pretty darn difficult to convey such a shape for a transparent object, especially with this perspective. The drawers look fantastic Btw, is the guy on tv holding a hand puppet or does he have the most enormous two-fingered hand?

Heavily injured and dead portraits. How it looks in the game:Knight: Hmmph, what is this creepy sicko place? Cleric: Ah, the mage has 10hp, 1-3 damage. That should be easy. ( identifying monsters is a skill that has to be learned and mastered to see all stats) Knight: Aww, shit, aww shit. Let's get-a-hell out-a here. Cleric: Gods, save us! Sorcerrer: it's just a scratch! ( Sorcerer accidentally came out as a body builder, which is kinda funny and i might leave it like that) ( this naturally will be voice-cast by different people) For now - monsters drop gold on death, they should rather leave corpses/gibs for that satisfying gory after battle view. I'll have to draw the sprites for that first. The two monsters are placeholders from openGameArt (cheers to all people who contribute to OGA, you are my heroes). Making this game is so much fun.

So I have a bit of a conundrum here. There's a secret company in Sub-Terra that you can align with called NEMESIS which allows you to stay neutral. This company when I originally wrote the name down two years ago was either a Cave Story reference, or a reference to an old character from a project I was working on four years ago. Since then I've forgotten, but decided to go with the Cave Story reference since the game is kinda like Cave Story, and we're recycling some old weapon ideas from yet a third project, which was called (surprise!) Cave Story: Online and was supposed to be the Mimiga War, but playable. So I decided to use the armor design for that as the NEMESIS armor in Sub-Terra. Which is yet ANOTHER problem because the armor design isn't even mine! But I love the armor design, so I don't want to scrap it. But I also might want to try selling Sub-Terra if the interest in it ever picks up. What in the hell do I do? Here are the sprites, with the Sub-Terran versions, CS:O versions and Q/C from Cave Story. Player One's design looked so much like Quote that I had to change the torso and legs completely, but Player Two's looked different enough due to the change from Red-to-Blue and White-to-Purple that I kept it. The image where I got the CS:O armor from (Also a link to the author's website:

Have you talked to the designer? If you haven't, that could clear this up quickly.
@JOBA - I like how that's looking.

Love the colors and the overall shape of things JackWhat! Here, a tentacle plant! You're obviously an experienced animator, the flow when it hits is awesome. If anything, i can spot quite a lot of banding when it is in what I suppose is its idle state. I'm making a tiny little thing in flash to learn as3, and would like some feedback: At first I created the palette to the left, my idea was that the game had a "medical" theme, therefore the white, muted green and red for organic parts. When I put it in motion I found that it didn't look "medical", it looked dull, like the colors of Windows 98 or something. So I tried an edgier, more visually effective approach, on the right. Note that both sets to the right are meant to be the same palette, they're different characters. What do you guys think?

I'd make the red character's red clothing another color, like dark blue or black, since it doesn't contrast enough like the tan character. I like the style, though!
