Omagad that monster is soo cute :D I wanna eat him.

 Shocked

Do you eat all cute things? Puppies and pandas and hamsters and RPG Maker 95 games made by 11 years-olds, do you eat them too?

I eat just about everything. Especially the bunny from seach for the holy grail. Cutest bunny ever.

This is the front view of a new character for a fighting game I'm working on.  She's actually made up of about 30 different peices of pixel art.  Her hair is all animated with ragdoll physics, it looks really cool when she's running around.

I'm developing a 1D game where all characters are flat pixels. As a reward for the player, the story is told by showing short messages and pixelated images. Sorry for the overlay, i'm a bit paranoid...

1D-Story A:

The great hero, mostly forgotton but still a self-declared legend.

1D-Story D:

A peaceful landscape. UNFINISHED

1D-Story C:

The dark force arrives.

1D game? Does that mean the whole game is played on a lineShocked

hmmm, I need to make it scary...

Avoid stubby limbs, chubby stomachs, big heads, large or rounded eyes or any other 'baby-like' features. They are probably why your monster looks adorable.

Try throwing in more features like distended limbs, beady, slit-like eyes, visible bone structure, sinewy muscles or anything which is visually evocative of insects, predators or human corpses.

Oh, also: posture. Leaning back and sticking his belly out makes him look complacent. Leaning him forward and crouching slightly would make him look ready to pounce.

I was thinking about this, I suppose if the only direction of travel is forward or back, its a 1d game, even if it has fantastic multi-d visuals

So the gameplay is 1D, but the graphics are 2D?

I hope the graphics aren't 1D. They'd be quite hard to see.

Thought I'd post the title screen of the short game I'm working on...

And here's a mockup:

What's it all about eh?

"Yume"...Japanese for dream? So it's about dreams, right? Gotta say, that title screen made me think of Cloud (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloud_(game))- not a bad comparison to make, though. Good luck with the project!

Oh, don't worry: all important things are good to see: objects are blinking dependent from their current status, the background has a lower saturation. I'm hope i can include some sorts of light/HDR rendering (this would bring interesting details to the graphics Wink ). Note: graphics are most like placeholders in this game. Sound design is more important for this experiment.

I'm not sure you're understanding the point... 1D wouldn't have "graphics."  It would have "a single line of pixels."

Or maybe I don't understand why you're calling it 1D.

Why do I have this feeling that a lot of this forums' threads end up discussions of various dimensions?  Grin

Ah, that makes more sense.  I was confused by your earlier 2D screencaps.

I'm actually looking forward to this, just out of the sheer curiosity of how well a 1D game can be pulled off.

Ditto! We were actually discussing this very same idea on #tigIRC a few days ago Grin Hope you can pull it off!
