Mental diarrhea today, mixed with physical tiredness/laziness. Not the best mix.
Internally dissecting the ingredients to a good game of Let's Make A Deal, for some odd reason today.
You know, there's the big prize you can win in a game of chance against Monty/Wayne, the "sure deal" you can bow out on, that unsure "box/curtain/thingy" that includes the Zonk factor, and that little twist in game design where in the middle, it's like "you didn't lose HERE, so I'll tell you what...". It's a neat, fun little setup to finnagle with. Just a shame no home version really taps into that fundamental design. Or at least comes with a cool wheel you can spin...
AND
6-player maze/adventure/dungeon game with three points of "entry," two players begin at each and try to converge on the other two points - you win by yourself and the "player from a different starting area" reaching your mutual goal...
So your starting partner can collab with you for the first half, your finishing partner can collab for the second half, and there's the competitive twist that encourages the occasional tactical backstabbing of your starting partner?
You guys are right. Idea guy'ing sucks. My brainses!!

Which is why some of the best game developers I knew since I was a kid moved into filmmaking or music which game developers? Some friends. Not going to say who for privacy reasons and you won't know them anyway because they're not game developers now. But.. those guys who made platformers in 3 months when they were 15. The ones who could animate complicated sprites in less than an hour. The ones who could build 3D dungeon crawlers with The Games Factory. The ones who, instead of putting some shitty MIDI or MOD file in their games, made a full soundtrack from an actual garage band. The ones who get bored, ask on IRC what kind of game to make, and end up compiling everyone's suggestions and making a multiplayer shooter with lots of shiny effects then scrap it because they're too lazy to market it/fix bugs. All while I was busy thinking about what games to make.

I just watched the first season of American Horror Story. Ain't seen nothin like that before. Never really watched horror movies and the like before this year, but my new roommate has a bluray player and a collection of hundreds of movies, mostly horror, so I'm warming up to the genre. Season 2 is coming out really soon, so.. pretty excited.
Yep yEp

Isn't most of the original team gone from the company? At least, everyone who made a Treasure game really feel like a Treasure game?

Pump Six and Old Man's War are supposed to be good but the rest seem pretty awful.

Just got a check from the government for $130.99 for some tax stuff. I know it's not that much, but 130 unexpected dollars is pretty nice when your a poor CS student.

I wonder if you could build software companies like sports teams. Buy out the contracts of a few developers who do well in other jobs, poach a few indie game developers into software, train them to work as a team over a few weeks weeks, give them exorbitant wages, sell/fire them when you find better people.
Extra fun to do with the new mobile industry, since 60% of mobile development teams are under 10 people. And similar to sports, you often want them to specialize in one field, but also work in similar fields as well.
