By background you mean a still picture? Will there be a map or something? Is the background actually "tiles" and stuff? Dimensions?

Sorry to ask, but I'm starting to throw some code and would want to know in advance. Thanks!

Also some powerup sprites could be handy (coins, ammo, that stuff).

@sloopygoop:  For now, make it a wav file.  The programmers should hopefully be able to convert it into a different format if they need to.

@nitram_cero: A still background picture.  I'm thinking a standard size would be 640x480, but if you are using different dimensions, you could scale or tile the background.

I think it'd be helpful to add an obstacle. Just throw in a crate/bush/whatever fits in your style, to allow for more types of games and stuff.

It could be just me, though.

Oh, good idea!  Artists, also make an obstacle sprite.  It should be the same size as the enemies.

After the blind collab is performed, I hope my partner helps me clean it up.  I'd really like to add a title screen and sound effects.

Oh, yeah, one last thing, should the explosion particles be 8x8 like the projectiles?

I think that should be about right.  But I don't think size is as important with the particles as the programmer doesn't need to perform collision on them.

Man. I'm having a really hard time thinking up an obstacle sprite in context with my others.

And is it necessary for projectile sprites to be exactly 8x8 or less? Some of mine are a little bigger, the biggest like 12x12. I'll scale them down though if I really have to but it was hard getting them to fit and look like I wanted them to.

I guess I can include two versions and let the programmer decide.

Context? What is this context of which you speak?

Mmm... You'd understand if you saw the sprites. I mean I'm having trouble coming up with an idea for an obstacle sprite that wouldn't look out of place if you had to place a bunch of them everywhere and it still pertain to my other sprites.

Oh well, I have a week to think one up. (though I've already spent one)  Sad

Edit:
Or four days. It felt like a week!

Yeah, it would be best to include both versions.  I know that people using gamemaker can just switch out the sprites with a sprite of a different size and collision will still work fine, but I don't know if there are any issues with other languages or tools.

I'll make sure to account for dynamic sprite sizes in my code, so no worries there!

Ah, ok. Well either way, I'm just about done at this point. Time to make final additions and then I'm done and don't have to worry about it till whenever  Smiley

Good luck to everyone with their work.  GentlemanHand Thumbs Up Left
