I don't see a lot of run n' gun games, I mean besides Alien Hominid, I can't think of any. I'm looking for games that are like metal slug. I really enjoy these kinds of games, and it's a shame I know of none(If there are any out there, which I assume there are).

But yeah, run n' guns.Cool Hand Thumbs Up Right

Which of his games?

I don't think Noitu Love would count if that's what you're hinting at.
Are there guns in it? WTF

Just checked his site...I don't see any run n' guns...Am I missing something??

Yes.  Yes you are.  But it's a gonna cost you a money.

I can think of plenty of run-n-guns, like Carnivac and some Fallen Angel games.  I'm pretty sure you're just not looking very hard.  I'm positive you'd find plenty in the TigDB alone.

I'd write a devlog about my current game, but I'm too busy making it.

some worthwhile freeware platform shooters to check out:

hurrican (tribute to turrican. 5 years in development)

t2002 (remake of turrican 2)

t4funeral (tribute with t2002 engine)

streambolt (comical platform shooter)

streambolt desero (short but fun with similarities to gunstar heroes)

mission extreme (retro platform shooter fun)

blob wars (bloody mission based platform shooter)

blip and blob (bloody comical platform shooter)

atomic butcher (bloody platform shooter with 360° shooting)

cosmic prison commando (fine run n gun with amstrad cpc graphic style)

war hogs - revamped (bloody platform shooter with similarities to metal slug and contra)

war hogs (older version...)

neon runner (platformer with mouse aiming and glowing neon graphics)

shotgun fun fun (arcade zombie shooting)

tagap (ok game but the controls are way too slow)

soldat (multiplayer greatness. worms in realtime with fps like gameplay)

teeworlds (similar to soldat)

worms 1.7 (well this is worms in real time)

facewound (great bloody zombie platform shooter. alpha version available. if the game will be finished it will be available via steam. well worth the money)

the cleaner (platform shooter with ability to fly)

mayhem triple (bloody platform shooter)

cave story (exploration platform shooter adventure)

iji (atmospheric action adventure where you also shoot)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

if you own some classic home consoles then these games are worth to check out
(also very nice are the top 100 features on that site)

the style of his games is based on run and gun games even though there isn't an actual gun -- besides, many traditional run and gun games have no gun, like silhoutte mirage (which has some type of magic blast).

if you just want games with a gun where you run, there's iji, cave story, and many others (many posted above by authentickaizen)

I suppose I should've looked harder, though it seems my look through tigdb wasn't thorough enough.

Well, I do enjoy Noitu love, and have already played them. I really can't think of a classification of them, they are pretty much run n guns, like you said. I really should've taken that into consideration.

list of games

Why thank you good sir.Gentleman

facewound (great bloody zombie platform shooter. alpha version available. if the game will be finished it will be available via steam. well worth the money)

Wasn't that project abandoned years ago? It's by the guy behind Garry's mod if i recall correctly, and is a damn fun game even if it is only an unfinished alpha that was released.

He does not. He currently works for Facepunch (they made it a real company!). Garry still lives in Britain and is still awesome.

I like how this thread has devolved into
"What's Garry Up To?"
Also, I don't think much else needs to be said..

I think Noitu Love 2 is ~ as good as Gunstar Heroes.  It's arguable.  It's not quite as happily demented, and it obviously owes that game a big debt, but I think the core gameplay and pacing is a smidge better.  Co-op would have pushed it over the top.

I think Deep Magic should count as a run n gun too.  Too bad the sequel is never going to make it out.
