Update: Thanks for the feedback guys, I've been working on the new humanoid structure, and think I now have a good compromise. MM is slightly taller, and has a more dynamic standing pose. When wearing armour he becomes a little taller. Here's a WIP, the final iron armour will also have iron arms, gloves, cape, and shield. The gif also shows the ducking behaviour that I put in to compensate for MM being more than 3 blocks high.

My God he must be 7 feet tall. Moonman became extremely scary all of a sudden.

I think he's a little too tall now - especially when he has armour on and is too tall for those 3 tile high passages. :/

The head ducking is cool, but I don't really like the new body. Could be I'm just being conservative, but the old design had a charm in it's simplicity. I'm not a big fan of nipples and the bellybutton either, makes him look too human.

The smile together with the stiff body in any situation was pretty comical too. I could see why you'd not want to go for that, but maybe your rigging system could make several designs possible? Wink

I agree that the nipples and belly button look kinda weird - it implies Moonman is both human-like in nature and also naked, both of which are a bit odd and creepy.

The head-ducking is cool, though it seems like he'd have to duck significantly more to actually clear the passageways.

To me, the masks/helmets half-disappearing behind the stone wall looks really bad. :-(

I'm not sure I like the ducking either. Granted, it looks kinda cute, but at the end of the day, it seems like a botch job -- trying to make up for a design clash (moonman being too tall now) that just doesn't work out, IMO.

Maybe it'd work better if moonman reverted to the old height, and the ducking only happened if he had a helmet on and needed to fit the helmet under the ceiling too?

Agreed. Ducking is okay, but losing half the hat behind a tile looks pretty bad in an otherwise very well done environment. Zaphos idea sounds good. It also begs the question of who created these structures in this world that ends up being too little for moonman?

In a natural environment ducking in a cave/shelter makes sense. Here he's ducking under something "man made". Unless moonman is exploring a lost world of dwarves, that doesn't seem logical.

I, for some reason, like how the ducking looks when it's just his head and he's not wearing a helmet. Maybe it's because more of the details are getting covered up when going under a small corridor with a helmet on?

Something about Moonman ducking under doorways all the time makes his existence seem fairly uncomfortable. Considering he is a moonman, being slightly not built for the world he is occupying might be appropriate. Smiley

If I make the doors and structures accommodate 4 vertical units then MM now seems small again.

Keep the ducking, but exaggerate it more and make appropriately colored sparks come off the ceiling when he's wearing a helmet.

It's weird that just his head moves down, should be a whole upper body thing. Even if it means more animations it's a cool detail.

I don't think he looks small at all with the doors that size. I assume these doors are set up for human use and Moonman is about the same size as a person right? Most doorframes I walk through are a little smaller than me with my arms up and I'm about 6 feet tall.
It depends how large you want Moonman to be though, if he is meant to be huge then the ducking works!
