With rumors about Pokemon and Smash Bros, I was expecting more first party titles. The WiiU is pretty much dead, with no new games, for a while now, I thought that was because Nintendo was working on a lot of titles for the Switch launch and to be fair it probably is but... game developers are awful at time management. Also, now that there's only one system, all of Nintendo's teams should be focused on making games for it.
I would think anyone familiar with indie game development would have anticipated what kind of time constraints game development operates under. As it stands, they have a Wii-Sports-esque local multiplayer title that's going to be arriving at launch along with the promised Zelda game. Mario Kart has a firm April date, Arms is a new IP and will be arriving a few months after launch, the Splatoon sequel is arriving in the summer, and a brand-new extensive 3D Mario title will be here before the end of the year. All of that seems perfectly in line with what I anticipated as far as their first-party development was concerned. 2 new IPs with modest scopes, the Zelda title they had been hyping, 2 Wii-U remakes/remasters, and a new original Mario game. Anyone thinking that ALL of those titles would be out at launch was kidding themselves. People really need to start tempering their expectations based on prior experience. I get that some people are too young to have the necessary prior experience. But anyone old enough to have ridden this merry-go-round before should have a decent idea as to what's coming up next.

They are also more likely to space game launch to avoid drought, so you can have a game to play every quarter or month. There is also 3 month before luach to reveal stuff and they might hide hit (smash bros) to keep the momentum through time.

The spacing things out is probable. And it doesn't hurt to give your bigger projects (such as Super Mario) extra time in the oven to make sure they're ready. But there's only one and a half months until launch, not three. We're almost halfway through January right now, and it is arriving on March 3rd. The last half of January and February are basically it. (and February is the shortest month of the year) I'm thinking any newly announced launch games are going to be third-party, not first-party. If you're hoping for Smash Bros, the best you can hope for at this point is to get the Virtual Console version of Melee at launch.

Yeah I should know better by now. Of course they also need to save some announcements for E3 and such.

weird as fuck but in line with mario representing japan at the next Olympics and all the real world insert they start to make ... maybe to capture the audience who meet mario through this huge coverage opportunity. Also I wonder if cart will allow for big internal local storage that soften the need of a Hard drive. I hope for a motion controlled skyrim, that would be perfect!

So I'm a little more worried about the Switch means for Nintendo's usual handheld line.
It's kinda encroaching on the next 3DS whatever they're gonna make next by being a handheld. The whole selling point means people being more meh on their next device as they already have something for playing on the go.
Like is the next big Pokemon gonna be on the 4DS XL or on the Switch? Are they retiring their DS line completely to focus on the Switch?
What does that mean for franchises built entirely on the Gameboy-DS heritage? I'm talking Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Kirby, the Mario & Luigi RPGs.
It seems all this is up in the air right now and that's not good for devs or Nintendo.

Animal crossing already confirmed on mobile, so there you go, mobile is nintendo's handheld, so is fire emblem (tactics) as the warriors version (ie a musou game) is confirmed on switch.
Also nintendo's online service seems to just be mobile too, no miiverse on switch nor streetpass.

What I get from the Switch is that it is both the sucessor to the 3DS and the WiiU. Next Pokemon will probably be released for the Switch and japanese developers are very likely to focus on the portable aspects of it.
