I'm terrible at DemSoulsjaboy and I get killed always right before meeting the Tower Knight in the Boletaria Palace. Blue Eyed Knight right after the dragonfire corridors complicates shit for me - current strat is crossbowing the crossbowers and then fight Blue Eyes mano-a-mano only to always fail due to backstepping and getting assroasted by triggered firebreathing (edit: lol i posted exactly the same here and forgot i did: http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=18560.msg1038820#msg1038820)

yeah thats one of the harder parts in the game. you can really shorten the fight against the blue eye knights if you know how to backstab or parry them. i usually just ignore/block the crossbow guys.

Now thats a huge relief. I was afraid some of you would say something like that being one of the easiest parts haha. Admittedly, at least the first sections of the Tower of Latria and the Mountain werent as hard. The trashcan level is kinda annoying tho.

Damn, I have to wait a few weeks before I can buy it. I'd love to hear people's impressions of its length and quality beforehand, though.

i'm not very far yet because its hard as piss. but thankfully not bullshit hard like shrine of yo mama. it's also basically gimmy's dream level because it's a lot like zelda with all those switch puzzles. i personally don't care for it because as i see it the puzzles are already in the combat encounters in d* souls but it's decently done. definitely bring a bow with a good amount of arrows tho.

enemy designs are pretty boring so far (soldiers with hammers, soldiers with swords, soldiers with lances, archers, flying bugs that cause corrosion) but the encounters or setpieces or watever u call em seem well designed.

there are not a lot of bonfires and the level has shortcuts and actual verticality(!!!)

i dont like the art direction, looks a bit gaudy for my taste and some of the "magical" elements (like the switches) have this weird scifi neon glow that looks really out of place.

Well, this pretty much sums up what I thought was missing from the game. I'm sold!

just finished it on NG+ and I would say it's... the most fun area of dark souls 2. the map is really cleverly laid out, the enemies are hard as hell (especially those phantoms. wow. but revenge is so sweeeet), the invasion is AWESOME and the boss battles are all fantastic. it's basically a lot of what was missing.

it's super lame that they obviously had this kind of material available, they just wanted us to pay extra for it Sad

4 months is a long enough time for a team to work on a single level

i still think it's atmospherically rather weak btw

btw im getting weird random slowdown issues and generally worse performance since the patch. it's not my graphics card driver and it's not a hardware defect either because every other game runs flawlessly. is anyone else experiencing this?

no i'm getting slowdowns everywhere (not just in the dlc area) and they're not tied to anything specific as far i can tell. i was thinking it was a heat issue (i use a laptop) but the fans are working at max capacity and my monitoring software says my cpu and graphics card are cool.

anyway, those square switches in the ground that open various doors and etc, activating switches with a bow, the whole area being a big blue temple maze. there's just no way this isn't a deliberate zelda tribute/ripoff.

I've encountered more hackers in an hour of the DLC than I have with 8 characters across 8 full games.

In contrast, I haven't been invaded once at all in the DLC, and I cleared it with two characters so far.

hacking is an actual problem tho, yeah

It's about 2-5 hours. It took me longer because I'm a terrible player. Shrug

It's probably the better decision to see how the other DLC turns out. Would the Season Pass be the same price?
