yeah yo you know what's up
dude i've been playing sonic since i was a baby*, it's in my blood
it's the one franchise above all that i'd love to make a game for if i got the chance to do a game besides one of my own self-owned things
i'd probably go back-to-basics 2D with hand-drawn art using that one retro engine the recent sonic port/remakes were done in (the iOS/android sonic CD, 1, and 2)
do a branching paths thing
idk
if you wanna read it i've got an analysis of sonic adventure 2 i did way back
it's heremay be of interest to you
either way, this is not helping me figure out what to eat (it is helping me have faith that the human race is sane, though)
*shockingly not a joke; parents bought a sega genesis as a wedding present to each otheredit:
I like teh speed base sonic too but those one are easier to replicate and have good 3D/2D output (generation is legit even though I would like the same thing more open and without 2D section at all).
3D momentum is not well explored aside from tony hawk (and I have a soft spot for the 1st on psx)
yeah; i feel like generations was hit-and-miss for me for that reason. i liked it a lot but the 2D stuff felt odd to me (the classic sonic stuff was weird, even if it wasn't bad; gave me the same vibe sonic advance 1 did, which was a game i liked but felt similarly strange to play)
not really related to anything, but generations
did manage to do scale really well, though; the levels feel fucking gigantic. chemical plant in particular pulls this off in incredibly good fashion
