Who wants to hitchhike down to SF with me and jam out games in the lobby. We'll have an anti-GDC. It'll be great! I'll bring the pop tarts.

anti-GDC is a wonderful idea! The best place is probably in the South Hall. Just beyond the entrance are semi-oval benches with power outlets (I think). Get there early and help make room for other hackers.  There is a chance that area will be used for registrations, So it might not work out. Down below are restaurant tables that might be useful. But there are many places in the hallways to group up and plug in. I'm pretty sure those areas are all un-badged.

Bought my pass and plane ticket the other day.  Mainly going for the IGS and IGF show/booth and will probably just hang out the rest of the time.

also staying at HI + 2 buddies

So seriously guys.  We keep talking like some magnificent spaceman is going to waltz in and set a date for us.  I say either after the first or last day of the conference, at the best location we can think of.

Magnificent spaceman ahoy!

I'd be more in favor of something after the first day (29th) - at Epicenter Cafe (http://www.yelp.com/biz/epicenter-cafe-san-francisco). It's hard to decide exactly when without seeing the session schedule though. Can anyone remember about what time GDC-Proper shenanigans end?

So...I love this thread in concept, and I'm very excited at the prospect of meeting tons of TIGSourcer's.  But is there any central place where all of the things that have been decided are posted?  I'm having trouble navigating through the whole thread and finding all the stuff that's going on.

Something in the format of:

SUPER FUN MEET UP LUNCH
What: Grab lunch with TIGSource people!
When: 2/29/2011, 12:00pm (Lunch)
Where: In Starbucks across from Moscone Center
How to Find Us: We'll have a sign with the TIGSource Logo

TALK ABOUT OUR GAME PROJECTS *Still pending*
What: Come meet up and talk about our games!
When: 3/1/2011, 7:00pm (Dinner)
Where: *Unknown, still discussing*
How to Find Us: We'll be in the back

Can we organize something like this?  Or is there a more effective system in place I'm not aware of?

I'm modifying the initial post with anything that seems to get solidified in the thread. Let me know if this isn't working.

I stole your format (thanks!), hopefully that makes things a bit clearer.

So.  Solidifying.  After the first day sounds sexy awesome.  (Maybe after the last day we can have a second meetup?)

It's between the mall food court and the Epicenter.  I'm not familiar with the latter, but I can say with reasonable confidence that the food court's gonna be a desert for power outlets.

Keep your electron-powered computational devices fully charged Smiley

Yes, the Westfield Mall wont have tons of power supplies. But it's also close to the conference, big enough to accommodate everyone, and central enough that we could go somewhere else depending on numbers.

If you want to be more productive.... I've listed a Pre-GDC gathering for the Saturday at Noisebridge. Noisebridge will have tons of power and WiFi, but can only reasonably accommodate a couple dozen of us at most.

Any get-together is going to be a balancing act that wont meet everyones needs.

Last year I figured out that SF Main Library is big enough to accommodate everyone and has ample power. If the group is huge we can just split to different floors. But by the time this was decided GDC was over, everyone was gone, so that gathering was just me and John Nesky Shrug

The library sounds excellent!  Is it downtown?

http://maps.google.com/maps?oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:unofficial&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=sf+main+library&fb=1&gl=us&hq=main+library&hnear=San+Francisco,+CA&cid=0,0,16996208619348249478&ei=X5VITcTODozUtQPmyMC3Ag&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=image&resnum=2&ved=0CC8QnwIwAQ

It is in Civic Center, which is downtown-ish, containing City Hall, various government buildings, a museum, the opera house, etc. Moscone is to the northeast, a 15-minute walk  down Market.

Cautionary note: despite all the niceties the neighborhood immediately around Civic Center and along the middle stretch of Market is pretty ugly(think liquor stores, pawn shops, payday loans, and fried chicken with 1960's era decor), but probably not dangerous these days. Similarly, the library itself has a fair share of homeless population hanging out there all day using the public computers to look at porn. If we're in a big crowd this stuff shouldn't matter though.
