Two separate ramps/animations, with the fire set to "lighter color" blend mode.  It ensures the smoke emerges from the flames in a believable way as opposed to trying to do it with a single ramp.

Haha, as usual, great animation. Maybe a few lines when his arms pop out could push the effect more, but it's pretty solid the way it is.
