I'd rather see a game that focuses on a new black female character (or even a female Gerudo character for that matter) and her adventures in Hyrule rather than transforming a character that was already there (not that it wouldn't be interesting to see, though).

There's almost always a new Link in every Zelda game tho, so they're new characters per se anyway. Might call the lass above just yet another reïncarnation of ~the hero of w/e~.

Wind Waker even went out of its way to say that your playable Link was NOT the reincarnation of the hero, but then you go on to defeat Ganon anyway.

As a gay autistic atheist, I am disappointed by the lack of representation in video games and I hope developers will work on being more inclusive towards my demographic in the future.

Now you are entering really muddy water, in skyward sword they have asian attire, in manga they have blue eyed blond but also green, blue, pink hair colored with any permutation of eye color, and some time they have dark skin character for no reason (bleach, gundam zero, gunbuster 2, ct ...) ... They also all are mock races.
The question is, anime character created along similar cultural perspective, while they are influenced by western visual, do they process them in the same way? Realism seems a low concern in Japanese entertainment, it's more like pure escapism and visual pallet than "representation", that's why they go crazy more easily than western cartoon where even excess seems to be rooted in realism, able it a kind of logical amplification of it instead of the more choreographed japaneese one who seems to prefer "style as substances".

I wonder how well diversity is represented among Female Link Jam participants. Or how diverse is Polygon writing staff.

That second question is easy to answer at least: http://www.polygon.com/pages/about

Why is there barely anyone who's actually trying to make it look like Link?
I think I've seen like 3 that are potential link candidates. The rest of them are just girls with Link's clothes. I guess he has changed over the past few years but you could at least try a bit harder.

this made nonsense lol link is always a different guy in "link's cloth" so a woman link would be just that too, a different girl in link's clothes ... the cloth are the signature (except for the wii U reveal which I took and mixed with gerudo, but that's because wiiu link as gerudo pattern).
I don't get what you mean as potential link candidate ...

CraftStudio. It was something like Godot engine. But coöp online thingy. Just found an old video about it that reminded me.
Whatever happened to that? Is it still being developed? Is it being used?
