Im so annoyed with these tiles.. It looks TOO flat and maybe too bright? I think they look fantastic. Are you planning on combining them with a background? Might be worth adding that, and more tiles generally, before any more edits. Yes there is going to be a lots of different tiles and angles... Im planning to do two different background and also Waterfalls and Fireflys flying over those purple plants.. Im just busy with other work.. Im going to back working on this when I have more time..

Spending an hour or so a night doodling pixel art in an attempt to improve - last night was some machines for Spooky Pooky .. .. although the thing on the right is looking more like some kind of robot (Robby?), so I might have a go at cleaning it up and animating it to walk about.

oh shoot! I meant to post this last time, but I apparently forgot to click post before I logged off. Redid a big common explosion sprite from my game that's needed a make-over for a while! original sprite from about 5 years ago: new sprite just last night:

@chriswearly That looks awesome. I like that one more then your previous mockups. That one is moodier..and i also really love the "surviving in the cold" setting in general. With some ambient sounds that could be a really cool game

New guy here, but after a series of problems trying to join (somehow).. at least I now have a place to dump my pixel crap as there seems to be no standalone threads present here. (though I'm not as seasoned like some of you lovelies here).. Lastly, I AM a bit of a pixel mimic, you have been warned. (a lot of hair-tearing practice can go a long way..) (here we have pixel mimicry in action!) (style conversion is fun) And lastly, game maker can do pretty weird shit with the right string of code..

@CyangmouArt: *droooool*, especially the last bit, hehe. Although the under-breast line is a bit too strong imho, black would be best reserved for the lingerie and hair, and maybe dark brown would suit the breasts better... It's still strange for me that you have a NES background, most of your works have a strong Amiga feel to them. @mzn528: your stuff reminds me of Moonstone (Amiga, early PC), one of my all-time favourite games. Exciting! If I may have two pieces of feedback: 1. The swoosh or sword trail effects of your animations are a bit too strong for my taste. You could try to make them a bit more 'ethereal'. Right now they look too heavy graphically and they have the sense of being physical objects instead of a visual effect, if that makes any sense. Maybe making them more transparent or dithered or very light gray/white would help... 2. Your attack animations consist of too many frames and that makes them less impactful then they should be. I would go for a decent amount of wind-up, a 1-frame instant attack and a medium long followup anim to 'describe' the instant attack frame after it hit the target. Since you use heavy weapons you can use fairly long windup anims that telegraph an instant 1 frame attack even without the followup anim...

I'm trying to get better at pixel art ... these currently take me way too long, 6-7 hours. Hope to get to a point where I'm churning out fighter animations that are as smooth as some of the work I've seen on here!
Good work. 7 hours for a character design does not seem slow to me.

I'm trying to learn pixel art, so I did this little tram for some reason... feedback welcomed Maybe I'll use it for some game eventually.

It has such a neat SNES aesthetic. Reminds me of Saint Seiya's SNES style! Very Lovely.

It's quite nice, perhaps add more shadows and highlights, unless that's your intended design. It has an early pokemon GB/GBA cross aesthetic to it. Maybe check out the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon sprites if you want to pursue a style in that direction
