never heard of Gamergate before joining tigsource. And i've been an active player....
And even now i don't have a clue of what exactly happened, as it never really got my curiosity.

I'm about in the same boat.

Was seeing improvement in my video game tinkering and considered taking a prototype public around late 2014.  I took a peek at what the proper channels might be for getting feedback on some home-brew game creations.

Mostly all I found was fallout from what appeared to be a giant internet slap-fight between genders and it appeared that was all everyone was talking/arguing about.  I promptly decided to stay un-public and keep tinkering in solitude for another year lol.

Honestly the more I heard from either side of the whole silly debacle the less interested I was (or ever will be) in signing up for partisan videogame politics.
